SHOP WITH A HERO PROGRAM

The Davison City Police recently partnered with other Genesee County Police and Fire agencies and Meijer Thrifty Acres to help kids with their Christmas shopping.

Meijer’s second annual Shop With A Hero Program was held on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 in Burton. This program teams up police officers and firefighters with area children to shop with a $100 Meijer’s gift certificate. The officers help the children spend the certificate on gifts for their family. This program is designed to help foster positive relationships between the children and public safety personnel. After the shopping spree, a pizza and pop party was sponsored by Meijer’s.

Officers Barry Burghdorf and Greg Pray were teamed up with two children from Davison and had a great time. Their partners were able to purchase presents for their family that they may not have otherwise be able to do.

During the pizza party, a special guest stopped by. One hundred and fifty children, police officers, firefighters and parents all were surprised when Santa showed up. He brought with him a box full of food for each child and their family to enjoy this Christmas.
