The City of Davison utilizes the Council/Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council. The current Interim City Manager is William Brandon. The City Manager supervises the administrative affairs of the City and carries out the policies established by the City Council. The City Manager is responsible for the daily administration of all city operations.

The City Manager directly supervises the department heads such as the Assessor, Building and Zoning Official, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Department of Public Works, Fire Chief, Parks and Recreation, and Police Chief. Some of the items that the City Manager's office oversees include:
§ Administration
-Supervising Department Heads
-Providing direction and oversight of personnel issues
-Research and initiation of employee programs
-Contract relations and negotiations
-Developing public administration policies
§ Organizational Development
-Generating policies and adapting them to changing needs or revised laws/codes
-Being aware of new systems and methods as they apply to the city
§ City Council Relations
-Keeping the City Council informed
-Preparing agenda items for the City Council
-Researching and suggesting courses of action for the City Council
-Responding to City Council inquires
§ Program Development
-Develop programs offer the best possible services to city residents
-Program evaluation to insure cost effect programs for service dollars
§ Intergovernmental Relations
-Work with other governmental units to insure non-duplicated services
-Work with Davison and Richfield Townships to ensure quality fire service
-Work with Davison School District to foster a joint facilities and program plan
-Work with County, State & Federal elected officials to see that Davison residents receive the appropriate funding and legislative action
§ Community Relations
-Listen to the needs and desired services of the community
-Providing information to the public about programs and services
-Responding to inquires about the City of Davison
§ Consultant Coordination
-Coordinate with independent consulting entities such as attorneys, engineers, planning consultants, etc...
-Report information from consultants to the City Council
§ Budget Administration
-Develop an prepare annual budget for the City Council
-Consult with Department Heads regarding financial issues
-Monitor and evaluate the City of Davison's financial condition
-Plan for long range and capital improvement projects
