The City Charter provides for a Council-Manager form of government.

A non-partisan regular City election is held for the election of City officers during the general election which shall be held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November in each year.

Elected at large in the City of Davison is a Mayor and Six (6) Council members. The Mayor is a member of the Council.
The Mayor shall be elected in odd numbered years and shall hold office for a term of four (4) years. Each Council member shall hold office for a term of two (2) years. Council member terms will be alternating with three (3) Council members elected each year.
   
The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City and shall deliver a "State of the City" address annually at the first Council meeting in March.

The Charter requires the Council to hold regular meetings at least once each month, for the transaction of business, at such time and place within the City as the Council shall prescribe by resolution.

The Council shall appoint a City Manager, who shall be the administrative head of the government under the direction and supervision of the Council. Other appointive officers shall include an Assessor, City Attorney, the Board of Review, City Clerk, Police Chief and a City Treasurer. 

The fiscal year of the City shall begin on July 1 and shall constitute the budget year of the City government.

All official action of the Council shall be by ordinance, resolution, or motion.
